Democracy, the rule of law, and Constitutional rights for all are under attack as never before. There is an urgent need to help people stay informed and take action to protect our democracy. Friends Here and Now is an independent web site launched in April 2025 by a few friends in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to do just that. If you subscribe today (for free), you'll get full access to the website as well as email newsletters about new content when it's available.
About Friends Here & Now
Friends Here and Now is a place for friends to share and store information and resources for political action.
- It is not affiliated with any group, organization or institution.
- Our focus is on protecting democracy, the rule of law, and constitutional rights for all in the US.
- We will touch on many issues, especially on particular groups, institutions or individuals whose rights may be threatened in the US.
- We will not get into many other important ethical, moral and political issues (e.g. Israel/Gaza, Ukraine) which may be fully worthy of attention but are outside the scope of this effort. However, if resources you find here about how to express your concerns effectively are useful to you in addressing other issues, that’s fine - but not an appropriate topic here.
How to use the site
Visit the site for access to information about organizations working to defend democracy, reliable news sources, information about political action nationally and locally, and resources for personal action. Then act. Contact elected representatives. Show up. Attend demonstrations. Attend town halls.
