Vote.

Voting still matters. Voting matters in state and local elections as well as national elections.

Increasingly, the key steps in defending democracy (or not allowing autocracy to expand) have to be taken by governors, mayors, state attorneys-general, state legislators, state and local election officials and even school boards. (See our Hope! page for examples.) In those state and local elections, your vote may be even more important.

Check your voter registration status and make sure you are still registered. Voter suppression activities are on-going all around the country. Don't take anything for granted.

In New Mexico, go to the Secretary of State's New Mexico Online Voter Registration site.

In other states, the most reliable way is to check with your Secretary of State. A quick way to start, though, is the free https://www.vote.org site.

If you think your voting rights have been threatened in any way (including intimidation or having your registration cancelled for no valid reason), immediately contact the ACLU either at their voter protection web site or by using their non-partisan Election Protection Hotline at 1-866-OUR-VOTE.
